International design exchange project: User experience design
Hidden Space ㅡ This project is the 6th international exchange exhibition, which is a collaboration between the interior design of London metropolitan university and Dongyang Mirae university.
01 Why are the guest houses similar to each other anywhere in the countries?
02 Can not the purpose of the guest house be for the function of accommodation but also for the process of new experience (travel)?
Our <Hidden Space> refers to the small guest house created by users. Inspired by <Hide what I want to show> of Nendo, I aimed to create curiosity in a hidden space. Therefore, I designated the guest houses hidden in the alley of Seogyo-dong, a little away from Hong-dae.
In the past, Hong-dae was a representative artistic area where intangible arts existed in various places. However, the current Hong-dae art culture is called new space and is intended spatialise the past arts to visualise them. I divided the layers of the sections separated this way within a site formed by alleys, and designed by section. I have divided the site into 4 different layers with different concepts for design which have formed by alleys, 'exhibition', 'fashion', 'playground', and 'music'.
I reinterpreted the furniture and design elements of each floor by hiding their original purpose, so that users can leave their trace in a planned space. The 'trace' can be the 'memory' of the person who left it, or it can be the information of other person.
